There is something about wide angle landscape photos that I can’t get enough of, and the Yukon seems to me tailor made for them. With a landscape as vast, mountains as massive, and valleys as wide as ours, a wide angle lens is often the only lens that will properly capture all the necessary elements of a scene.

There is also humbling gravity to our wilderness, and usually all the elements must be present for this to be conveyed, especially to those who have not experienced the Yukon, or a similar place, for themselves. If I could convey one message with my photos it would be the Yukon’s humbling character, and I am finding out that most of the time wide angle shots are the only way to do this.

Of course, much better examples of wide angle scenery shots are available from much better photographers than myself. Check out this
gallery to see what a
real photographer can do with a wide angle lens and breathtaking terrain. Lot’s of wide angle landscapes are also available from several different artists
here. Some of them are unbelievable.
I hope to eventually get a lens that is capable of even wider angles, but first I should probably get in some more practice with the lens I have now (14mm or 28mm equivalent). Olympus makes a 7-14mm (14-28mm equivalent) that’s on my wish list.
