Brand New Pic-in-ic Table: Part 2
I managed to finish the picnic table project more quickly than I had expected. Yesterday evening, I ran the router along all the edges with a 1/2” roundover bit, sanded the entire table, and applied a natural stain to the fir boards. Today, I finished the post sections with a green exterior stain, and then partly disassembled it for its journey to the second story.
I left most of the structure together and pulled it up along planks I set up so that it wouldn’t catch the eaves. Most of the work was done with a come-along.

When it got to the top, I had to lift it up over the railing. Thankfully, the person taking these photos put the camera down and gave me a hand.

I reassembled the table, then sat down and enjoyed my craftsmanship as well as a hamburger.

I enjoyed it up on our deck so much, that I have resolved to spend lot’s of my time sitting at this pic-in-ic table over the coming summer. It is, after all, an ideal place to do school work on sunny days. I can think of few things better than basking in the sun with a book, or a pen and paper, all the while sitting at a table made by my own hands. Praise God, life is good.

This was much more dramatic!
Time to post a transportation photo, Andrew. If you need the link, you can find it on the post on my blog. You'll have to scroll down a bit--I've been a bit verbose this week.
