I was having a heck of time getting landscape photos without colorless white skies. The Yukon sun is extremely bright and low on the horizon, which lends itself to severe overexposure. However, the friendly folk at our local camera store were kind enough to help me out. They sold me an expensive but worth-every-penny circular polarizing filter. I took quite a few photos with the filter during a recent expedition to the beautiful Ibex Valley and very few had catastrophically colorless skies. A good portion were even shot into near-direct sunlight. I’m sure I’ll soon wonder how I ever lived without it.
