Working on a Volkswagen Update
June 9, 2006 at 04:29PM
The conclusion to this story will need to wait for yet another day. The engine is in and running, but we’re still waiting on some parts before we can truly say this job is finished. There was certainly more wrong with this car than I had originally thought. After replacing the engine and distributor, we found that the starter and the cooling fan switch were both faulty. We’re still waiting on that switch. Furthermore, the battery did not hold a charge and needed replacement, a headlight bulb needed to be replaced, a battery tie-down had to be added, and the alternator is hopefully being tested by NAPA as I write this. Is that all? Nope. The squirters don’t seem to work, the blinkers don’t work under braking, and there is a nasty rattling in the exhaust. I think we’ll leave the exhaust for an expert since it’s relatively new and should be salvageable in the proper hands. I really hope that is all.Technorati Tags: volkswagen, volkswagen golf, engine, mechanics
